Aeolus' Wineskin: The Wind of Vengeance

The work evokes another instance of Poseidon’s fury at the bottom of the sea, as Odysseus heads for the island of Aeolus, the god of the winds. Aeolus gives him a wineskin with a favorable breeze to reach Ithaca. However, the crew’s curiosity unleashes the furious winds, and with them, Poseidon’s wrath, transforming the wineskin into a tragic Pandora’s box.

The texture and movement of the piece capture the fury of the sea, while the countless eyes that appear symbolize the small sea monsters lurking in the depths.
