Rocha Impelindo
“Rock pushing” as the translation in english, narrates the moment when Polyphemus throws a stone at Ulysses, who is already in the sea, this stone is thrown by the monster with the intention of attacking, but what ends up happening is that it helps the hero to meet the rest of the ships and companions, to continue their journey.
In this painting, we can appreciate all the tension pushing us towards the right side, whether through the bulging eyes that seem to look in the direction of a possible head almost like an arrow – a sea animal?, the ship where Ulysses and the rest of the survivors are going? – how this same shape leans towards this end of the picture. We would say that the escape is completed by the lack of hospitality.
